SOA Committee CHFA SOA Process SOA Information FAQ about SOA SOA Resources Assessment Issues

Welcome to the

College of Humanities and Fine Arts Student Outcomes Assessment Web Site!

The CHFA SOA Committee has created a variety of resources for use by the College Departments in conducting student outcomes assessment.  Information can be accessed by clicking the links above or below.  Brief descriptions of each link are offered below.

CHFA SOA Committee:  Each CHFA Department is represented on the SOA Committee.  Contact information for the committee members may be found on this page.

CHFA SOA Process:  Click on this page for tools you can use in program assessment in CHFA Departments.  Included are the University Academic Program Review guidelines, the University Assessment Policy, the CHFA SOA Yearly Report template, the CHFA Assessment Calendar, a curriculum alignment matrix, and an assessment planning grid for program goals and outcomes.

SOA Information:  Find here "10 Best Practices in Assessment" compiled by the CHFA SOA Committee, a description of different levels of assessment in a university, and a discussion of "Why Assess?"

FAQ about SOA:  The CHFA SOA Committee receives lots of questions about student outcomes assessment.  We've compiled answers that we have found helpful in our own thinking about student outcomes assessment.

SOA Resources: The CHFA SOA Committee has created a glossary of assessment terms and a verb list to use in creating goals and outcomes.  A handout on establishing reliability and validity in assessment is also found here.  A review of Bloom's taxonomy assists faculty members in reflecting on what we mean when we say "We want students to know the material."  Bibliographic resources (electronic and print) are recommended by CHFA SOA Committee members.   Print resources in the Rod Library collection are so identified.

Assessment Issues:   Key documents at the national level in higher education associated with assessment are posted here.

University Office of Academic Assessment:  Click here to go to the UNI Office of Academic Assessment.
